First impression of Berja
Berja sits at the foot of the mountains in western Almería and feels like one of the clearer inland alternatives to the Poniente coast. The rivers, the foothill setting and the older town structure give it more character than the flatter western plain, while daily life still feels practical and lived in. Buyers often look here when they want to stay in the west of the province but prefer a more local, more traditional setting than Roquetas de Mar or Vícar. Compared with the coast, Berja feels calmer and more rooted. Compared with the smaller Alpujarra villages, it stays easier to use year round.
